Empress Wu Zetian

Empress Wu was the only female emperor in the history of China.
When she was young she was recruited to the court of the Emperor. After a while she became the emperors favorite in the court, and because of that she grew in power. When the emperor died his son took over.
She gave birth to his son and married him later. The emperor suffered from strokes and died a short while after that.
Wu murdered her eldest son and made sure the youngest one got the emperors place. By manipulating his choices Empress Wu controlled all China.
In the year 690 the emperor decided to give the power to Wu. So Empress Wu was now declared Emperor of China. The year 705 Empress Wu died and her son became emperor.
